Kimberly Miller

Kimberly has dedicated her entire career as an attorney to exclusive representation of plaintiffs in the litigation of civil and injury claims, with a special love for representing motorcycle accident victims.

Kimberly is a trial lawyer at the law firm of Owens & Miller in Raleigh, NC. Her practice is limited to representation of plaintiffs in the litigation of injury claims, including auto torts, commercial vehicle collisions, wrongful death, and premises liability, to which has dedicated her entire career as an attorney. Prior to forming Owens & Miller in 2011 with her law partner William Owens, Kimberly was a trial attorney in the Personal Injury Division of a larger statewide injury law firm based in Raleigh.

In addition to litigating cases throughout the entire State, Kimberly has tried jury trials to verdict across central North Carolina, including Wake, Durham, Harnett, Johnston and Cumberland Counties.

Kimberly has an AV Rating by Martindale Hubbell. The highest peer rating standard, this rating signifies that a large number of Kimberly’s lawyer peers rate her at the highest level of professional excellence for her legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.

Kimberly was elected to the 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 Super Lawyers lists in Super Lawyers Magazine. Super Lawyers Magazine uses a patented selection process that involves peer nominations, independent research and peer evaluations.

In 2018, Kimberly was among the three honorees of the Distinguished Alumni Award for Campbell University.

Award recipients are chosen among all schools within the Campbell University system.

Kimberly was an Honoree of the 2012 Women of Justice Rising Star Award given by NC Lawyers Weekly. Kimberly is the current editor of the NCAJ North Carolina Complaints Manual.

Kimberly is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, which has membership limited to attorneys who have obtained million dollar verdicts, awards or settlements. Kimberly’s settlement for her auto accident victim in the amount of $1.5 million dollars was featured in NC Lawyers Weekly in 2015 as one of the top 25 verdicts or settlements that year. Another O&M case that Kimberly was involved in was featured in 2016 for a $1.85 million dollar settlement for a trucking accident victim.

Kimberly is active in the local Wake County Bar. Kimberly chaired the Wake County Bar Association’s annual fundraiser for Legal Aid, the Wake County Bar Awards, in 2019. Under her lead, the WCBA Bar Awards raised over $127,500 for Legal Aid, which is the largest amount raised in the 12 year history of the fundraiser. For her role as chair of the Wake County Bar Awards, Kimberly was awarded the President’s Award of Excellence by the President of the Wake County Bar.  Other recipients of the award in 2019 were Chief Justice, Cheri Beasley, Campbell Law School Dean, Richard Leonard and Wake County District Court Judge, Robert Rader. 

Kimberly is heavily involved with her Law School Alma Mater, Campbell Law School, where she is the past Chair of the Campbell Law Alumni Association Board of Directors. Kimberly is finishing up her second 3 year term on the Alumni Association Board of Directors.

She is also a member of the state’s primary Plaintiff’s Bar association, North Carolina Advocates for Justice, wherein she is the Editor of the North Carolina Complaints Manual. This text is a compilation of Complaints (Law Suit Pleadings) to be used by other lawyers across the state.

A life-long North Carolina resident, Kimberly is originally from Salisbury, NC and grew up in Lexington, NC where she attended Central Davidson High School with her identical twin sister. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in Public Policy Analysis.

Kimberly obtained her law degree from The Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University, back when it was still in Buies Creek.

Kimberly and her husband, attorney Jason Miller, live in Raleigh with their two children, Sicilia and Kesler, and their overly energetic and hard headed Polish Lowland Sheepdog, Chewy. Kimberly loves to spend time with her family, hang out at the beach, read, and cheer on the Tar Heels!
